A warm place to live
12 km from the centre of Lubumbashi, BUMI has set up a unique project to help vulnerable children: the creation of a village where children can grow up who will no longer be reunited with their parents. The priority is to offer them family stability and a warm and humane living environment. The children will thus regain their dignity and the joy of living, which is essential to their development and well-being.
Karavia Children's Village has 6 houses, 4 of which are functional and 2 under construction. Each one has a capacity of about twenty children, supervised by a mother-educator who takes care of their health, nutrition and education. To date, more than 165 children live on the site. The houses are therefore overcrowded, which is why it is urgent to build new homes. Eventually, the site should be composed of 10 family houses for a maximum capacity already reached.
