Nommée responsable administratif et financier en juillet 2017, avec l’objectif de renforcer la structure organisationnelle et de développer les programmes de BUMI. Sarah détient un Bachelier en Management et un Master en Economie du Développement de l’UCL en Belgique. Avant de rejoindre BUMI, elle a travaillé pour l’Agence de Développement belge (CTB/Enabel) et pour la Commission Européenne aux Affaires humanitaires. Elle a également une expérience dans le secteur privé en RDC. Sarah aime voyager et passe la plupart de son temps libre avec les enfants de BUMI.
Membre du CA depuis 2015. Il détient un Bachelier en Economie de l’Université de Warwick au Royaume-Uni. Arrivé à Lubumbashi en 2008, il se spécialise dans l’agro-business jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Mis à part son engagement au sein de BUMI, Aziz est le Président du Comité agricole provincial à la Chambre de Commerce (FEC) et gère une fondation dédiée à l’éducation en zones rurales. Son expérience tant dans les affaires que dans les organisations à but non lucratif font de lui un excellent conseiller stratégique pour notre organisation. Il est passionné de cyclisme et participe régulièrement à des courses en montagne ou sur route asphaltée à travers l’Afrique.
A rejoint le CA en 2016 avec l’objectif de développer la stratégie de communication à BUMI. Candy détient un Bachelier en Affaires et Economie de l’Université de Greenwich au Royaume-Uni et un Master en Digital Media & Economie Créative de l’Université de Kingston, toujours au Royaume-Uni.
Elle est co-fondatrice de deux start-ups et dispose d’une expérience significative en média digital et en communication en Europe et en RDC. Elle est actuellement Directrice de Création à Musal Communication, une agence de publicité à Lubumbashi et consacre son temps libre à soutenir les actions humanitaires de BUMI et à améliorer leur visibilité.

BUMI is a non-profit association (ASBL) active mainly in the province of Haut-Katanga, in Lubumbashi.
Depending on the needs, BUMI can also be active in other regions of the DRC. The BUMI association in DRC is composed of a General Assembly (all members) and a Board of Directors. BUMI is recognized as a non-profit organization in Belgium and France, where about twenty members carry out awareness raising and fundraising activities to support our humanitarian actions in the DRC. In the field, BUMI also has a team of educators, teachers, health personnel, technical agents, volunteers and site supervisors.

The special educators, whose work is essential within BUMI, have a psycho-pedagogical profile and good knowledge of children's rights and administrative procedures. Depending on their specialization, they carry out street work, field research and family mediation, work hand in hand with the social services and the juvenile court. The special educator is also the person of trust for the newly arrived child, working on listening and psychological support for the child. Finally, the special educator acts as a role model for the children and as a parental authority in relation to the school and external actors.
The role of Mother Educator goes hand in hand with the setting up of family homes in children's villages. They are women, often widows or single mothers, ready to come and live on site and take care of about twenty children as if they were their own. Beyond the classic household chores of a stay-at-home mother, the Mother Educator brings to each child love, affection, as well as the learning of good manners and family life, all necessary elements for her personal development and well-being.
Given the large number of children on our two sites, medical follow-up is necessary, especially for children under treatment or in need of special attention (babies, handicapped children, epileptic children, sickle-cell or HIV-positive children) Our medical team, composed of 2 part-time doctors, 2 nurses and a health auxiliary, also welcomes the disadvantaged populations of the surrounding area within our community health centre and at a lower cost.
In our two schools in Kamalondo and Karavia, a pedagogical team takes care of the schooling of nearly 800 children. Each school is under the supervision of a school director who also acts as a community agent and sensitizer for families from disadvantaged backgrounds. In addition to classical education, trainers in agro-pastoral or cutting and sewing work to reintegrate young people into the workforce, while our dance, painting, arts and crafts teachers and football coaches ensure their intellectual, social and sporting development.
One agronomist, two farm workers and two herdsmen are currently working in this programme on the Karavia and Kakila sites. They ensure the quality of the crops and the welfare of the farm animals. In addition, they provide practical training for young people in the various activities: breeding and slaughtering, market gardening and fish farming. They are placed under the supervision of the Assistant Coordinator who also works on the marketing of the products to our local customers.
